Bloomberg’s Gurman reports that Apple plans to unveil iPhone 14 lines on Wednesday, Sep. 7, 2022 (yup, during the Labor day week). According to leaks, the standard iPhone 14 looks similar to the iPhone 13, except the notch camera module will be replaced with the pill and a dot camera module. Apple is expected to add a model with a 6.7-inch screen, and Pro models are rumored to feature an A16 bionic chip. CNET reports it could be Sep. 16, and Apple is mum on the announcement.
Apple is also expected to announce newer iPads with M2 chips, Apple Watch, and possibly newer AirPods. Apple hasn’t announced it and neither denied nor acknowledged it. So, it might push back a week or so. In June, Apple had its last event to announce iOS 16, iPadOS 16, watchOS 9, and macOS Ventura.
Leaks suggest that the pro lineup pricing would be 10%-15% ($100 to $150) higher than iPhone 13 Pro models, which puts the iPhone 14 Pro pricing range of $1099 to $1149 and the iPhone 14 Pro Max pricing range of $1199 to $1249.
Smartphone sales have begun to slow due to inflation and a shaky economy. Apple doesn’t expect any drop in demand. It could be different if we head into a recession with higher pricing. Apple appears to be doing well compared to its competitors. iPhone accounted for more than half of the sales of Apple’s revenue.
Apple is down 2% YTD and is one of the companies that recovered fast from the bear market. Apple still remains the top valued market capital.
