M1 Pro and M1 Max: Apple launched off its newer M1 Pro and Pro Max (nomenclature similar to iPhones) for the new MacBook Pro. Built on the same 5nm process, the M1 Pro has up to a 10-core CPU, 16-core GPU, and support up to 32GB of unified memory. The M1 Max has a 10-core CPU with up to 32GB GPU and support up to 64GB of RAM. Apple says the CPU is up to 70 percent faster than the M1 with graphics up to 4 times faster.
The star of the “Unleashed” event was the 14 and 16 inch MacBook Pros. And finally with much requested changes: The Touch Bar is gone, the bezels have shrunk, the ports have been expanded to include HDMI and an SD card slot, and MagSafe is back. It’s the most significant redesign in many years and with the M1 Pro and M1 Max processors addressing many complaints from professional users.
