Apple’s strategy of switching to it own in-house M1 ARM based silicon comes with it’s own pros and cons. Pros: apparently you can run Windows apps with Crossover and con, Bootcamp doesn’t work (yet). Also you have to rely on Rosetta 2 to get these things and some old Mac apps run on newer macs.
